What is coaching to me?
I have a strongly held belief that coaching is all about you finding out what you want. It is certainly not about me and the advice I could give. Coaching allows you to take a 'timeout' from your busy working life to ask and reflect on one simple question, "What do I really want?". Whether that relates to work and your career, home or your wider health, wealth and happiness. For me, this ought to be a basic necessity for all of us, but many business people rarely invest the time to stop, raise their level of self-awareness and look after their own psychological well-being.
If you are struggling to find an answer to the question posed above, that feels genuine and true to who you really are, then coaching has the potential to help give you clarity, identify new possibilities and illuminate unseen alternatives.
How do I coach?
Coaching has progressed over the last 20 years, drawing its influences from a wide range of disciplines, and has produced coaches who specialise in a variety of approaches including Solution Focused, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Psychodynamics and Systemic Thinking, to name but a few.
I like variety and firmly believe that for coaching to be effective, the 'one size fits all' approach is too prescriptive. I prefer to select the most appropriate tools and techniques from these diverse disciplines to suit my clients' needs. So my style of coaching could well be described as eclectic. I see each client as an individual with their own map of the world, so it is important to me to understand what they are looking for from their working life and therefore which approach will provide them with the most supportive environment to achieve the best outcomes.
If you like to be treated as an individual, with respect for your own beliefs and values and are open to exploring new ways of working in order to uncover new learning, then my style of coaching may well suit you.
Who do I coach?
I coach anyone who has had the courage to admit that they are no longer satisfied with the status quo and are willing to make changes in some area of their work or home lives. Your position, seniority, gender, culture or industry have no bearing for me on whether I would wish to work with you. I am simply passionate about enabling people, who want to make a change, to explore their future possibilities.
You are the expert on you.
